photoanalysisd
Analyzes your Photos library to recognize people, places and scenes for search and Memories.
What it is
photoanalysisd scans photos and videos in your Photos library to find faces, objects, text and scenes. That's what powers searching Photos for "beach" or a person's name, and the Memories feature.
It runs most after importing many photos, after a macOS update, or after moving to a new Mac, and it prefers to work while the Mac is idle and on power.
Should you worry?
No. It's temporary, and it backs off when you're actively using the Mac.
What you can do
- Leave the Mac plugged in and idle (for example overnight) so it can finish.
- Keep Photos updated; analysis improvements arrive with macOS updates.
