syspolicyd
Checks that apps are safe to open (Gatekeeper).
What it is
syspolicyd verifies app signatures and notarization when you open apps, so macOS can block software that is damaged or from unidentified developers.
It can be busy briefly after installing apps or when opening many command-line tools for the first time (for example during a large software build).
Should you worry?
No. It's a security feature and its activity is short-lived.
What you can do
- Let it finish; it caches its results, so later launches are fast.
